A CORONAVIRUS outbreak has been confirmed at a Southampton supermarket.
Staff at the Sainsbury’s store in Portswood Road have tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, others are self-isolating.
The retailer has reportedly introduced additional cleaning and has strict social distancing measures in place, as well as hand sanitiser stations, Perspex screens and PPE for workers.
A test and trace scheme is also being used.
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “A small number of colleagues have tested positive at our Southampton Portswood store and are self-isolating at home. A small number of colleagues are also self-isolating as a precaution.
Sainsbury’s has not confirmed how many staff members have tested positive or how many staff are currently self-isolating.
However, the number of infections is said to be in single figures.
The store remains open at this time.
