VILLAGERS signalled their opposition to controversial proposals to build a new eco-town in the rural heart of Hampshire.
More than 200 locals packed into Warren Hall at Micheldever Station yesterday evening to discuss Eagle Star's plans to build 12,500 new homes on agricultural land.
They unanimously backed a proposal from campaign group, the Dever Society, to oppose Eagle Star's "latest attempt to build a new town at Micheldever Station, this time in the guise of an eco-town."
The company, which has owned the thousands of acres of land for decades has been actively promoting a new town since 1990.
It would be a major development on one of the least populated parts of Hampshire.
