MORE than 1,700 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Hampshire in the last 24 hours.
Public Health England figures - as recorded on the Government website at 4.35pm today (January 8) - show that 1,704 more people have tested positive for the virus in a 24 hour period.
Across Hampshire, there has been a total of 55,847 positive tests since the start of the pandemic in March 2020 - approximately 4.05 per cent of the county's population.
Yesterday, there were 1,189 cases recorded.

- Basingstoke and Deane: 140 (4,785 in total since start of pandemic)
- East Hampshire: 67 (3,126)
- Eastleigh: 101 (3,283)
- Fareham: 95 (3,127)
- Gosport: 67 (2,194)
- Hart: 102 (2,797)
- Havant: 133 (4,594)
- New Forest: 144 (3,608)
- Portsmouth: 240 (8,923)
- Rushmoor: 184 (4,805)
- Southampton: 236 (8,244)
- Test Valley: 122 (3,030)
- Winchester: 73 (3,331)
