IAN Brown and US hip-hop rockers N.E.R.D have joined the line up for next year's Isle of Wight Festival.

British indie bands The Kooks, The Hoosiers and Scouting for Girls will also take to the stage during the three-day event on June 13, 14 and 15.

The announcement follows the addition of seven other acts on Monday including Lily Allen, The Enemy, Iggy and The Stooges, and KT Tunstall.

They join headliners Kaiser Chiefs, Sex Pistols and The Police.

The line-up is filling fast and organisers say the 2008 festival will be the best yet with more acts to be revealed in coming months.

Former The Stone Roses frontman Brown will make his debut at the summer festival on the Saturday night, according to the singer's website.

The iconic Manchester maverick is sure to wow the 50,000 strong crowd, while Brighton's finest The Kooks make a return after they played the festival last year.

They'll be expecting a bigger crowd than their 2006 set when thousands of revellers were still returning from watching the England vs Paraguay World Cup match, which was shown on a massive screen off-site.

With England failing to qualify for Euro 2008 there is no danger of that happening again.

Hip-hop star Pharrell Williams and his N.E.R.D (No One Ever Really Dies) crew bring an international presence to the event, while The Hoosiers and Scouting for Girls are two of the hottest bands of the moment.

The Isle of Wight Festival takes place at Seaclose Park, Newport. Tickets went on sale on Monday.
