WESSEX Water has asked motorists who travel on the A357 through Shillingstone, Dorset to use alternative routes from Monday.
The company is carrying out emergency repairs to a collapsed sewer, with a closure and diversion needed for the safety of road users and the workforce.
Repair teams will be working extended hours and hope to be able re-open the road by Monday, January 18.
Customers’ sewerage services will not be affected and access will remain for residents and emergency vehicles.
A Wessex Water spokesperson said: “We apologise for any delays to essential journeys or inconvenience caused to local people.
“We will do everything we can to complete the emergency repairs as quickly as possible.”
