A 17-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital following a collision with a car on Saturday afternoon.

The collision took place on Portsmouth Road, Woolston around 2.30pm. 

Police have confirmed the cyclist was riding along Portsmouth Road, in the direction of Woolston, when he was knocked off his bike by a blue Volkswagen car close to the junction of Station Road.

The driver of the blue Volkswagen car did not stop and turned left into St Annes Road.

The cyclist suffered minor injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses and to homeowners on Portsmouth Road to check any CCTV they may have of the incident.

They would also like to see any relevant dashcam footage.
