A police investigation has been launched after "anti-Covid" propaganda was distributed to homes and placed on cars in a Hampshire town.

Police say they have received a number or reports of these leaflets being distributed in the central Eastleigh area.

The material questions the current lockdown rules, the "validity" of information being published by both the government and the press, and even quotes Nazi Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels.

Properties in Chamberlayne Road, Nutbeem Road and Blenheim Road are said to have been targeted early yesterday evening.

There have also been similar reports of materials being placed under car windscreens.

A police spokesperson said: "We appreciate that many may be concerned by the content of the materials, especially in light of the current circumstances.

"Please be rest assured that officers from our local Neighbourhood Policing Team have continued to patrol the area and have made initial enquiries with those residents who have contacted us.

"As always, we would urge residents who wish to have access to the most relevant and up-to-date information to visit the Government website."
