A SOUTHAMPTON GP surgery has asked patients not to call them to ask when they are scheduled for their Covid jab, as it is ‘clogging up [their] phone lines.”

Peartree Practice on Sullivan Road in Sholing put a post on their Facebook to say the surgery has been ‘inundated’ with calls.

They urged people to wait for the surgery to get in touch with them inform them of their slot.

In the post, a spokesperson for Peartree Practice said: “I am speaking for all GP surgeries across the country, we are absolutely inundated and do not need these questions clogging up the phone lines. We promise to call you when it’s your turn.”

The news comes as NHS data on Wednesday recorded 647,182 people in the South East have received the first dose of the jab, with 75,366 fully vaccinated with both doses.

As of Wednesday across the whole of England 4,419,704 doses had been administered since vaccinations began.

People receiving these doses included over-80s, care home residents, and NHS and social care staff.

The government aims to administer a dose of the vaccine to 15 million of the most vulnerable people in the UK by February 15.

An online calculator has been made by statistical modelling company Omni that allows users to estimate how many people in the UK are ahead of them in the queue for a jab, and what date they are likely to receive a dose. The calculator can be found here.
