A SOUTHAMPTON based sailing charity has welcomed a new chairperson. The Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST) has appointed Charles Humpleby at its new chair.
The charity supports helping people from disadvantaged backgrounds, those with disabilities, are socially isolated or have dealt with difficult challenges, by organising voyages on the world's only sea-going tall shop called Tenacious.
Charles has previously supported the trust and has served a committee chair.
He said: “It’s an honour to be joining such an inspiring organisation, who do so much for people no matter their background or ability. I’ve been a huge fan and supporter of the Trust for many years, and can’t wait to work more closely with the crew, shore-based team and our supporters.
“We are living with the continued impact of the global pandemic and the world is a different place. Our voyages, our fundraising, how we work with supporters - there’s much work to be done to ensure a safe, secure and bright future for the Trust."
