TIME restrictions on concessionary bus travel in Southampton are set to be lifted.

Southampton City Council has announced it will be removing the restrictions until further noticed, allowing people to use their free bus pass at any time of day.

Currently, concessionary travel is available from 9am in Southampton, for all eligible pass holders.

Following this announcement, as of Monday, these restrictions will be lifted, making concessionary bus passes valid at any time Monday-Sunday, on all services operated by City Red FirstGroup, Bluestar, Unlink and Xelabus.

Councillor Steve Leggett, Cabinet Member for Green City and Place, said: β€œIt is vital that we support the most vulnerable members of our communities to make essential journeys, such as travelling to receive a COVID vaccination when one is offered to them and to access essential shops and services at quieter times.

"Concessionary bus pass holders will therefore be able to travel on all bus services across Southampton without restriction, giving people complete flexibility.”
