THESE are the areas in Hampshire which currently have the lowest infection rates - with one recording fewer than three cases in a seven-day period.

Districts across the county are recording lower rates after the country went into a third national lockdown on January 5.

The latest Public Health England data, which is for the seven day to January 20, shows that the area of Chilbolton, Clatford and Barton Stacey between Andover and Winchester has recorded fewer than three cases in that time period.

This means the Government has not assigned it an infection rate, due to the number of cases being so few.

This is followed by Brockenhurst and Sway, which only recorded seven cases in that week - down 65%. Its rolling infection rate was 92.5 per 100,000 people.

To put this into perspective, the Government considers an area that records an infection rate of 800 or more as a 'hotspot'.

For reference, the map is divided into Middle Super Output Areas (MSOAs), which are areas with an average population of 7,200.

It then colour-codes MSOAs depending on their seven day rolling infection rate, with areas placed into the boundaries of 0-9 (yellow), 10-49 (light green), 50-99 (dark green), 100-199 (light blue), 200-399 (dark blue), 400 to 799 (light purple) and 800 plus (dark purple).

Anywhere labelled '800 plus' is today deemed by the Government to be a 'hotspot'.
