TWO men behind the theft of more than £1m worth of cars from across England including Hampshire have been jailed.

Juozas Baltors, 28, and Darius Lukauskas, 31, were convicted following a seven-day trial at Peterborough Crown Court this week.

The court heard how the pair conspired to steal 26 keyless-entry vehicles from 10 counties across England including four in Hampshire.

The cars would then be delivered to a ‘chop-shop’ in Peterborough where the vehicles were dismantled and thought to have been shipped out of the county.

Baltors and Lukauskas were linked to the theft of vehicles valued at £1,010,813, between February and May last year.

This included a Range Rover Sport that was stolen from Horton Heath on March 29.

The car worth 48k was later recovered.

Two vehicles were also stolen from Hartley Whitney and one from Alton.

The pair are said to have used sophisticated ‘relay’ equipment to scan and obtain victims’ vehicle key frequencies from inside homes.

This then enabled them to then start up the vehicles and drive away.

The pair both denied charges of conspiracy to steal the vehicles.

Today, they were each sentenced to four years and six months in prison.

Baltors was sentenced to an additional three months for breaching a deportation order and disqualified from driving for three years, starting from his release from prison, for driving while uninsured.
