AN AIRLINE has added yet another destination to its list of services from Southampton airport.

Eastern Airways, is from May 24 set to serve the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar with the first service operating from the airlines growing Southampton hub.

The regional airline will be making flights to the area twice a week initially on Monday's and Friday's.

This will be the first scheduled passenger service to Gibraltar from Southampton Airport, in Eastleigh, and will be operated on the airline’s Embraer 190 e-Jet fleet.

This comes after the airline announced last week that it would be adding flights to Nantes and Rennes to it's list of services.

Roger Hage, GM for Eastern Airways, said: “This marks a major development in the network Eastern Airways offers.

"With a quality array of hotels, beaches, water-sports and heritage, this UK territory offers an exciting short-break destination aside from its role in UK business, notably financial services and maritime.

"With easy access to the south-coast of Spain also a benefit, working together with HM Government of Gibraltar has enabled this to be the first service to be announced, supporting UK regional airports and their role in direct European connectivity."

Fares are starting from £74.99 one-way, including taxes and a hold-bag as standard and flights are now available to book.
