In a week in which Hampshire experienced a dusting of the white stuff, the Daily Echo looks back at pictures of when snow fell in the 1980s.
Although things looked very different this time around due the pandemic, there is usually a checklist of chaos the extreme cold brings with it.
Schools close for a day or two and children spend their mornings outside making snowmen or sledging down local hills. Most of them are overjoyed at having the extra time off.
Police are kept busy dealing with accidents on the roads and ambulance crews and emergency services often see a hike in calls as pedestrians tumble on the ice.
Trains and flights coming in and out of the county will often experience delays, and energy companies see a spike in usage as residents try and get cosy indoors.
Snow can be a fun novelty for a while, but it's certainly not without its problems.
