IT WAS quite the day when these two teams of footballing hopefuls proved their worth in front a Daily Echo camera man.
Fawley Falcons and Hamble, both Southampton Tyro League under-11 Division 4 squads at the time, took to the pitch to do battle.
Fawley Falcons were founded in 1973, quickly expanding from a single team to the numerous age categories they now cater for.
From 2004 the club included all-girl teams and, as founding members of the New Forest Girls Youth Football League, are active promoters of girls’ football.
Both teams gave it their all when these pictures were snapped on October 5, 1997 but despite a massive effort from both teams, neither could find the winning goal.
The contest ended 2-2.
