IF THE government is serious about getting the economy going again and children back to school on a permanent basis, then they really should offer Covid vaccinations for all school staff.
Between lock-downs my grandchildren, on more than one occasion had to stay at home because of lack of staff - either through Covid or self-isolation, thus disrupting their parents' efforts to return to work.
As a retired headteacher, even in “normal” times one of my main responsibilities was to ensure adequate and competent staffing throughout the school at all times.
These people do not grow on trees.
My heart goes out to current headteachers as they must be struggling to provide sound and continuing education for our children without full understanding, backing and resources to meet the demands of this government.
