MILLIONS of TV viewers will see Gordon Ramsay's abusive attempts to tackle what could be his greatest challenge tonight - turning around a disastrously failing Hampshire restaurant.

They will watch as bosses and staff at The Granary in Titchfield are forced to eat humble pie as the Michelin- starred chef tries to help them reverse catastrophic losses of £4,000 a week.

The upmarket eaterie's capacity of 200 diners makes it the biggest Mr Ramsay has ever taken on in his popular Channel 4 show Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares.

Originally opened by entrepreneur Nigel Nieddu as an up-market dining club four years ago, the restaurant was relaunched after a £2m refit.

It promises classy modern British cuisine but in reality the fussy menu features food sourced from all over the globe and the locals, disconcerted by its exclusive reputation, are staying far away.

The show sees Mr Ramsay join the restaurant for a week to try to improve its business by looking at the menu, service and decor.

Mr Ramsay is considered one of the country's finest chefs - with his flagship Restaurant Gordon Ramsay regularly topping the list of top restaurants in London.

He is also one of the country's most feared bosses, with a reputation for tough talking and a foul mouth.

The Granary, which is in a Grade II listed building, opened in February last year in place of former private-member's club The Radcliffe.

It describes itself as having "great food and service in stunning surroundings", serving up dishes such as rib eye of beef with sweet chilli crevettes for £17.95 and rump of lamb stuffed with brie and gooseberries for £15.95.
