BUDDING fashion designers brought the glitz and glamour of the catwalk to Hampshire at a special show to celebrate their achievements.

The bright lights of New York and French court of Marie Antoinette were among the inspirations for the 120 textiles students at Eastleigh's Barton Peveril College.

Their annual showcase of innovative work filled the catwalk with exciting mixes of colours, textures, silhouette and form, as well as raising money for Breast Cancer Awareness.

While AS students worked around a theme of layers, those taking their A2s were allowed a personal choice of inspiration, with resulting creations ranging from traditional to contemporary.

Textiles tutor, Lorna Burkhory said she was incredibly proud of the students' achievements.

"It has been an exciting, challenging and exhausting time for the students, as the course allows only five weeks to design and construct their garments," she said.

"Working to a tight deadline helps give them a sense of what it can really be like in the fashion industry."
