A 75-year-old man died after a fall at his home which resulted in a hospital stay, an inquest opening heard.
Patrick Desmond Woods, of Heatherdene Road, Chandler’s Ford, fell at his home on February 4 and paramedics were called.
Mr Woods was taken to Southampton General Hospital where it was found that he had suffered multiple significant fractures.
An inquest was opened into his death at Winchester Coroner’s Court by area coroner Jason Pegg.
The hearing was told that Mr Woods died at the hospital on February 21.
A post mortem concluded that he died of multi-organ failure, sepsis, multi traumatic fractures, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic renal failure, dilated cardio myotherapy and heart failure.
Mr Pegg adjourned the hearing for a full inquest to take place on July 8.
