A MAN has been charged with attempted GBH and five other crimes after a quad bike was ridden at a police officer and car.

Vijay Louis Bunth Sandhu, 22, of Radcliffe Road in Southampton, has been charged with attempted GBH, aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop for police, criminal damage, resisting arrest, and failing to provide police with a specimen of breath.

It comes after officers carried out a stop of the quad bike on the A326 in Totton at around 11pm on Saturday, February 27.

While conducting the stop, the rider is alleged to have driven at the vehicle and a police officer as he stepped out of the car. The officer got out of the way of the quad bike.

A second vehicle was also damaged in the incident, as was the quad bike, which is believed to have been stolen from an address on Peterscroft Avenue in Ashurst.

No one was injured in the incident.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Southampton Magistrates' Court this morning.
