AN 87-year-old woman died after she fell onto her wheelchair resulting in a hospital stay, an inquest opening heard.
Renée Kathleen Stearne was admitted to Southampton General Hospital after she fell at her home in Firgrove Road, North Baddesley.
Mrs Stearne developed pneumonia as a result of her immobility and died on February 15.
An inquest into her death was opened at Winchester Coroner’s Court by coroner Rosamund Rhodes-Kemp.
A preliminary cause of death was given as bronco pneumonia, following a fall, along with Parkinson’s disease, valvular heart disease and congestive cardiac failure.
Ms Rhodes-Kemp adjourned the hearing for a full inquest to take place on November 23.
