A DRINK driver caught under the influence of alcohol behind the wheel has been banned from the roads.

Ashley Rhys Purkiss-Vowles was caught drink driving on Station Road, Southampton, on December 28 last year.

The 27-year-old was found to have 63 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the legal limit of 35 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Appearing at Southampton Magistrates' Court he pleaded guilty to drink driving.

Purkiss-Vowles, of Bracklesham Close, Southampton, was disqualified from driving for 16 months and fined £450.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £45 and court costs of £85.
