FOUR areas of Southampton have recorded fewer than three Covid cases in the space of a week, according to Public Health England.

The latest data, which covers the seven days to February 27, shows that the districts of Highfield and University, St Denys, Banister Park and Howard Road, and Central Southampton West have been placed in the Government's lowest infection rate band, due to the low amount of cases.

It says for an area with fewer than three cases, it does not give an infection rate, nor show any other data "to protect individuals' identities".

As well as this, several areas across the city have recorded infection rates of below 50 per 100,000 people. This equates to fewer than one in every 2,000 people in those districts having had the virus during that period.

Below, we have listed those areas.

For reference, the map is divided into Middle Super Output Areas (MSOAs), which are areas with an average population of 7,200.

It then colour-codes MSOAs depending on their seven day rolling infection rate, with areas placed into the boundaries of 0-9 (yellow), 10-49 (light green), 50-99 (dark green), 100-199 (light blue), 200-399 (dark blue), 400 to 799 (light purple) and 800 plus (dark purple).

Anywhere labelled '800 plus' is today deemed by the Government to be a 'hotspot' - no areas near to or in the city have been labelled as such.

Bitterne West

In the seven days to February 27, the area recorded three new cases, down 75% on the previous week.

This left it with an infection rate of 35.3 per 100,000 people, or one in every 2,833.
