THE AGEAS Bowl has been chosen as the host venue for the inaugural ICC World Test Championship final.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that the West End ground would host the showpiece fixture this morning.

India will now face off against New Zealand at the home of Hampshire Cricket on June 18, competing to be crowned the ICC World Test Champions.

This comes after a 2020 schedule which saw The Ageas Bowl, which will be known as The Hampshire Bowl for the match, host nine international matches, with all games played behind closed doors because of the pandemic.

The ICC has said in a statement: "Should the UK government’s phased easing of COVID-19 lockdown measures proceed as planned, it is anticipated that a limited number of fans will be allowed into The Ageas Bowl/The Hampshire Bowl to watch the final."

Fans can pre-register their interest in tickets and hospitality for the final via the ICC website.
