A NEW nightclub is planning to open its doors in Southampton city centre this summer.
Located in the site that was previously Junk nightclub on London Road, Trilogy will include two music rooms.
DJ’s will play RnB, House & Dance music in one room and another will be dedicated to Pop music with a colour changing dance floor and disco balls.
The club will be open from 9.30pm until 4am on Fridays and Saturdays, and though the owners have obtained a licence, weeknight opening hours are yet to be agreed.
It is thought the nightclub will create around 40 jobs, with recruitment set to start “in the next few weeks.”
The owner has said he hopes it will give local people “something to look forward to” following the extended closure of entertainment venues due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Co-owner Duncan Squires said: “The entertainment industry has been hit the hardest by the pandemic - which was expected.
“A lot of people, like DJ’s and security staff are out of work.
“Also for quite a few people in our industry, their work is their hobby and they’re not able to access that now.
“It’s going to be great to have everyone back in.”
“I think the excitement is building for the opening and hopefully people will get behind it.
The provisional date for opening is set at June 21, if government guidance allows.
On the reason for choosing to open in Southampton, Mr Squires said “It’s such a vibrant city with lots of students.
“We thought it would be a great place to start our brand.”
Two other Trilogy venues in Blackpool and High Wycombe are also set to open in June, though no opening events have been confirmed.
Mr Squires said: “Everyone’s been so trapped [during the pandemic] and everything’s been so negative.
“I think the opening of the entertainment industry will be almost symbolic of things going back to normal”
“Like everyone else, we’re really excited to open.”
