PLANS to create a new sports provision in a Hampshire town have been approved.

Permission was granted for Hedge End's first floodlit 3G artificial turf football pitch on land West of Woodhouse Lane in Hedge End.

Plans also included the rearrangement of two grass pitches, which were approved at a meeting of the Hedge End, West End and Botley Local Area Committee.

The new facility is set to form part of the Deer Park School development and will also be used by Hedge End Rangers FC.

After the meeting, leader of the council, Cllr Keith House wrote on Twitter: "New community sports provision between Grange Park and Woodhouse Lane cleared its final planning approval this evening.

"The project is substantially being funded by Eastleigh Borough Council and will be shared with the new Deer Park School. Finally, a home for the Rangers!"
