A NEW study has taken a look into what the most popular video games are in Southampton.

Research by Airsoft company, Patrol base, has reviewed search demand for 30 video games in 20 major cities across the UK in the last five years.

Of the 20 cities analysed, the Mass Effect series featured in the top five for three locations including Southampton.

The Legend of Zelda and Minecraft made up the rest of the top three in the city.

Of the 20 cities analysed, BioShock was the UK’s overall favourite, proving most popular in four cities - Belfast, Bristol, Glasgow and Sheffield.

Chris Hartwell from Patrol Base said: “With people spending more time than ever cultivating their hobbies, video gaming has become a popular choice with avid gamers and non-gamers alike and it’s an amazing way for people to connect across the globe.

"PC gaming platform, Steam, recorded it’s biggest Christmas Day figures to-date, with nearly 25 million people logging on - and we think it’s great!"
