THE verdict on whether the sentence of killer former Dorset Police officer Timothy Brehmer will be reduced or extended will be handed down on Friday.

Brehmer, 41, of Hordle, New Forest, appealed to have his sentence of ten years and six months imprisonment for the manslaughter of his long-term lover Claire Parry reduced.

At the same hearing, the case was made on behalf of the Attorney General to extend the sentence.

Brehmer killed 41-year-old mother-of-two Mrs Parry at the Horns Inn pub car park in West Parley in May last year after she revealed their affair to his wife by sending a text message to her on his phone.

He was acquitted of murder at Salisbury Crown Court in October last year, but sentenced on the basis of manslaughter by “loss of control”.

A Court of Appeal hearing was held in London last month, before Lord Burnett, who is the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, Lord Justice Holroyde and Mrs Justice Lambert.

The Lord Chief Justice confirmed a judgement would be handed down at a later date and such judgement will be revealed on March 19.
