A MAN in his 70's has been injured in an attack where he was hit over the head with a bottle.
At around 12.15pm yesterday, the man was walking along West Park Road, Southampton when a woman approached him.
The woman is then said to have hit him twice over the head with a bottle.
The man tried to walk away but she followed him, continuing to shout abuse and trying to hit him again.
Members of the public then stopped the attack and held the woman until police could get there.
The man had suffered minor injuries to his head.
A 44-year-old woman from Southampton has now been arrested on suspicion of attempted GBH and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
She has been released on police bail whilst officers continue their investigation.
Police are now asking anyone who witnessed the incident to call 101 quoting 44210101050.
