TWO boys have been threatened with a machete and knife in an attempted robbery on a Southampton street.

Today, police have arrested a man following an attempted robbery on Victoria Road, Woolston. 

At around 8.30pm on Sunday two boys aged 12 and 16 were walking on Victoria Road when they were approached by two men in a red Volkswagen Polo.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle demanded the boys empty their pockets before threatening them with a knife and a machete.

The boys managed to escape and the car made off.

Nothing was stolen and no-one was injured.

A 19-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery.

He remains in custody at this time.
