A SOUTHAMPTON road is closed off and a police investigation is underway.
Patrol cars are blocking Shop Lane this afternoon.
The wreckage of a burnt out car can be seen and firefighters have been assisting police.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters from St Mary’s and Hightown were mobilised at 7:57pm last night (Wednesday 24 March) to Shop Lane, Southampton.
There was a vehicle on fire, which was extinguished using two breathing apparatus, three jets and a dry powder extinguisher.
The stop message came in at 9:09pm."
