THIS Easter weekend, after lockdown restriction were eased on Monday, hundreds of people are expected to head to the New Forest to enjoy a step out into nature for the first time in months.

Yet, although the popular forest brings in hundreds of thousands of visitiors every year, some aren't so keen - and they've taken to the internet to let others know!

So, here are five of the New Forest's harshest critics, and what they had to say about it on TripAdvisor:

'Smelled like something had died'

Daily Echo:

Reviewer Calli B did not have a fun day out with the family. They wrote: "AVOID! Sat in a traffic jam for a hours to get through Lyndhurst. Finally got to Brockenhurst to go to the river. Overcrowded couldn’t park.

"Went to Hatchett Pond instead. Also overcrowded. Very hot, smelled like something had died near the water. Son got a leech on him. Other son got a tick.

"Cows disturbed our picnic and chased my our dog. Poo everywhere and lots of rubbish. Got yelled at for feeding the animals too by a ranger who threatened to fine us. Not going to return.

"Do not recommend as a fun day out."

'It's the people that spoil it!'

Reviewer C B was not impressed by the national park, and suggested a better experience might be had across the Channel...

They wrote: "All the walks from the popular car parks are littered with dog mess.

"The regular police speed traps trying to enforce the 'illegal' blanket 40 limit is a nice touch.

"Not a great place to visit!

"Try France for real forests!"

'A couple of nice ponds'

Daily Echo: A typical New Forest scene

Despite being known as one of the best places to visit in the country, the humble New Forest just could not please reviewer Neil G.

They wrote: "Not much to look at, just managed forestry.

"A few nice towns though with a couple of nice ponds.

"The [Beaulieu] Motor Museum was a bit of a let down, especially the boring Top Gear chuffers."

'Too busy'

A short but sweet review here from MrGolightly. They clearly wanted to forest all to themselves, and were not a fan of other people!

They wrote: "Wherever you turn there are crowds of people, caravans and cars.

"Terrible restaurants and hotels."

'A marmite place'

Daily Echo: The New Forest has been named as the fifth best national park in Europe.

Another review came from maximusbrambo, which we again thought was a tad harsh.

They wrote: "Normally I go camping to the lakes of the outer Hebrides to enjoy the hills and landscapes.

"As a change my wife and I headed to the New Forest.

"After you get over the ponies and woods, there's not much more to the place.

"I guess it's a marmite place."
