Two classes from a Southampton primary school were sent home today following a confirmed case of Covid-19.
Staff at Foundry Lane Primary School in Shirley confirmed that a pupil had tested positive and as a result two year 2 classes had been asked to self-isolate.
In a statement, Headteacher Sean Taylor said: "Earlier today we were informed by a parent that a child, who was at home feeling unwell, had tested positive for Covid-19.
"We immediately contacted Public Health England to report the case.
"Following their advice, we have asked two Year 2 classes who had been in contact with the child, to self-isolate in line with government guidance.
"The rest of the school will remain open until we close for Easter on April 1."
