SHE puts her heart and soul into every piece she makes.

The pandemic has given Lisa Watson time to learn her craft and open her New Forest business Under The Tree Pottery.

The firm, based in Ashley near New Milton, specialises in unique ceramic gifts and home decor items.

Lisa told the Echo: “I have a history of design and upcycling. Just before the first lockdown I decided to learn pottery. It was something I wanted to learn for a long time, so I took a few classes and was instantly hooked.

“My husband is a builder and had previously built a garden studio for me to use as a craft room. I purchased a wheel and a kiln and have since spent every day practising my passion and creating unique items."

The pieces Lisa makes are completely unique and are either wheel thrown or hand built. They range from a ceramic artists set to teabag dishes and from ceramic envelope wall planters to positivity trinket dishes. There’s also herb or plant markers with amusing slogans and fun mugs, bowls and coasters.

Everything Lisa creates appears in her Etsy shop. Recent additions include delightful bud vases, each painted to look like a different cheeky character and bumble bee pouches for hanging air plants on the wall.

“I put my previous experience in design in to create items that people want in their homes,” she adds.

“A lot of my pottery can be personalised and the pieces have a certain cheekiness to them.

“My heart and soul goes in to each piece I make as well as every attention to detail. I go over and above to make sure my customers are happy.”

Lisa’s small pottery studio lies on the edge of the New Forest, under a tree in her garden, hence the name of her fledgling business.

She loves making ceramic pieces, enjoying the entire process of designing and creating clay pieces and particularly the excitement of opening the kiln!
