RESIDENTS have been warned about a rise in catalytic converter thefts in a Hampshire borough.

On Tuesday, police notified residents about the spate of thefts of catalytic converters across Eastleigh and Hedge End.

They are now advising vehicle owners in these areas to:

- Try and park near kerbs, fences and walls to restrict access to the underside of the vehicle.
- Park in well-lit areas or within the range of CCTV or Ring doorbell cameras.
- If a converter is the bolt on type, get the bolts welded.
- Identify or etch converters with a unique serial number.

A police spokesperson said: "We appreciate that this is causing concern, but we would ask that residents remain vigilant and report any suspicious incidents to us via 101 or the online reporting system via the Hampshire Constabulary website."
