A YOUNG man who was found unresponsive by a security officer at a Southampton student block died by hanging.
An inquest has been opened into the death of Chenkai Wan, 21, who was reported deceased on March 28.
Winchester Coroner's Court heard that security staff at Southampton Crossings, Cumberland Place entered Mr Wan's room after his friends and family became concerned.
He was found unresponsive in the property on the 11th floor.
A post mortem report by Dr Matthew Sommerlad states the preliminary cause of death as hanging.
Area coroner Rosamund Rhodes-Kemp adjourned the full inquest to September 28, to be heard in Winchester.
