WHAT a great letter from Dave Christian (letters April 1) pointing out all the unknown factors that affect the climate.

These are being ignored by those promoting a "climate emergency" including our political leaders who are now bringing out very costly policies to try and reduce our CO2 emissions.

We will soon become aware of just how costly they are if they shut off our gas supply and tell us to go and buy a heat pump instead.

On top of that we are expected to replace our car with an electric vehicle.

Then there is the new regulation on "energy performance" which prevents property being sold unless it meets the required standard from 2025.

There are currently millions of properties that would not meet it.

I predict there will be a lot of opposition to these proposals once they are in place, probably on a greater scale than those seen recently against the covid lockdown rules.

At least there is a simple explanation to justify the covid rules, whereas the climate regulations, even if fully observed, would make no noticeable change whatsoever to the climate - particularly when other large industrial nations such as China and India have no intention of following our lead.
