PLANNING chiefs in the New Forest have rejected proposals to replace a house overlooking the Beaulieu River.
The Lymington-based National Park Authority (NPA) has refused an application relating to a property called Gilbury in Gilbury Lane, Exbury.
Planning permission had been sought to demolish the existing house and build a new property on the site.
Exbury and Lepe Parish Council had urged the NPA to reject the proposal, saying the proposed development would "impose itself" on a little-changed section of the river.
A report to NPA members said: "Consent is sought to demolish all the existing buildings and fill in the swimming pool. It is proposed to build a replacement dwelling, three outbuildings and a new pool."
