AN EASTLEIGH shop assistant has provided care packages for key workers at her local NHS Trust.

Jamie Bidwell from Cash Converters Eastleigh has gone to incredible lengths to provide care packages for staff at Southampton and Winchester Hospitals.

Jamie called on her community to come together to provide gifts for NHS staff to show their gratitude for their work.

By collaborating with colleagues, friends, family and her local community, as well as leveraging the power of social media, Jamie was able to provide ten full care boxes for Winchester and Southampton Hospitals as well as two boxes for Basingstoke Hospital.

Jamie, who also arranged donations of surgical hats and clothing made by a local seamstress, said of her efforts: “I wanted to do something for our local NHS Trust that shows how grateful we are for everything they continue to do. Some of the negativity they experience is uncalled for, so I wanted to show them that actions speak louder than words.

“I wanted to try and get as many people involved as possible so I took to social media and within a week and a half, my lounge was full of items that needed to be sanitised, sorted and donated!

“Sometimes, it just takes the actions of one person to start a movement, and I’m really proud to be part of a community who responded so brilliantly to my call for help. Together, we have hopefully put a smile on the face of some NHS staff who are working so incredibly hard at the moment.”
