Firstly, the Echo is to be applauded for the very even reporting on this issue; both sides of the debate have been given equal, uncensored space to air their views.
The comments by the leader of the local Green Party are frankly ludicrous.
Anyone would think we are creating another Chernobyl in the county.
Has he considered that the M27 & M3 motorways create more pollution in 48 hours than the airport will in five years.
Does he think we should close these two vital arteries down, or perhaps add cycle lanes?
He does not speak for the majority of residents in Southampton - perhaps he might like to remind us of the number of Greens on the local council.
On a larger stage, we have one Green Party member of parliament.
Is this telling us all something?
