ONE of team GB’s up and coming climbers was a guest of honour as a new “world class” climbing centre opened in Southampton.
On Monday, Parthian Climbing opened the doors to its latest world class climbing centre facility in Southampton.
Based at Adanac Park, the 25,000 square foot purpose-built centre includes extensive bouldering walls, roped climbing, auto-belays and speed climbing.
The centre also houses a carbon copy of the Olympic bouldering wall which will feature at the 2021 Tokyo Games, the only one of its kind in Europe.
Will Bosi, who is widely tipped to win a medal at the 2024 games, was the guest of honour as the centre opened and described it as a “fantastic climbing facility” and said “No one will be disappointed – it’s absolutely stunning.”
Parthian Climbing Southampton has been designed to appeal to everyone from beginners to professionals and also boasts a gym, barista coffee area and food offering.
Southampton is the fourth centre of its type in the UK and Chief Executive and founder of Parthian Climbing, John Dunne said he is “delighted to be finally open”.
