THE two areas of Hampshire with the highest Covid infection rates are both in Southampton, the latest figures show.

According to Public Health England, Central Southampton East and Shirley South both have infection rates of over 100 per 100,000 people in the seven days to April 10 - the only areas in the county still in triple figures.

Both areas have also seen a rise in cases over that period.

Below are further details on these areas.

The map, using data from Public Health England, breaks down the number of coronavirus cases into neighbourhoods called 'Middle Super Output Areas' (MSOAs), which are smaller than council wards and based on population rather than geographical area.

It colour-codes MSOAs depending on their seven day rolling infection rate, with areas placed into the boundaries of 0-9 (yellow), 10-49 (light green), 50-99 (dark green), 100-199 (light blue), 200-399 (dark blue), 400 to 799 (light purple) and 800 plus (dark purple).
