A NEW campaign has been launched offering beer lovers and music fans the chance to help save Southampton's venues.

Fightback Lager has launched its crowdfunding campaign, offering music and beer lovers the opportunity to invest in and co-own the start-up beer brand.

Formed in 2018, Fightback converts the connection between beer and live music into a sustainable income for Music Venue Trust (MVT), which has throughout the past year, supported venues across the UK including Southampton's 1865.

Fightback has sold over 10,000 pints and 10,000 cans of its first brew, with a donation from every drink sold going to MVT.

Now though, the company is inviting grassroot music fans to invest in its £200,000 funding drive, allowing participants to become proud owners of a piece of the company and help their favourite venues.

The crowdfund will support a live music ticket promotion to encourage audiences to return to gigs, as well as grow awareness of the brand.

Gary Prosser, Director of Fightback, said: “The cultural importance and fragility of live music has never been more understood, and we have seen the proof that when the grassroots community rallies together, it makes a huge difference.

"That’s why we want people who go to gigs to own Fightback. We’re a passionate bunch, and we want like-minded fans to come along on our journey to saving these venues which are integral to our music culture in the UK."

Securing pouring partnerships is said to be the companies focus and it claims if half of UK venues sold one keg per week, £103,000 a year would be donated to MVT.

Mark Davyd, CEO of MVT said: “We are grateful for fightback’s ongoing contribution as we continue the long road to Reopen Every Venue Safely and Revive Live Music.

"Keeping the spirit of grassroots alive remains crucial as we enter this next stage of reopening.”
