A HAMPSHIRE mum has been crowned a winner in the Little Ankle Biter awards.

Trenza Braid Bar has been announced as winner of the ‘Best New Business’ category of the Hampshire Little Ankle Biter Hampshire awards.

Raz Wright, a mum-of-two from Romsey launched the business, that is based in Westquay, in October 2019, only months before the pandemic took hold.

She had struggled to know how to style her own children’s hair and paid for a lesson to learn how to braid, but after seeing a braid bar in London and realising that the concept was not available anywhere in the south, the idea for Trenza was born.

The Hampshire Little Ankle Biter Hampshire awards celebrate the best family friendly businesses in Hampshire across 17 categories and received over 1,000 entries and 10,000 votes for the chosen winners.

Raz said: “It was amazing to be nominated for the awards alongside some huge local brands such as the Mayflower theatre and Paultons Park.

"The timing of the win is just perfect for us; after such a difficult year for everyone, it’s a real boost to be celebrating the award just as we’re getting ready to welcome customers back to our braid bar again."

Katherine Atrobus, editor of Little Ankle Biters Hampshire, said: " Raz is a shining example of entrepreneurial excellence - introducing a brand new concept to Southampton for both children and adults to enjoy, and it's clear Trenza is already going down a storm with the local community!

"Our awards are voted for by the public, by families right here in Hampshire that use all of the wonderful family-friendly businesses available to us. To win is a huge achievement and displaying the Little Ankle Biters Winner logo is a seal of approval, so other parents and carers know that they are brilliant at what they do.”
