TRIBUTES have been paid to a former Hampshire police officer who passed away last week.

Russell White served for 27 years with Hampshire Constabulary before retiring from the force in 2019.

He passed away on Wednesday, but no details surrounding his death have yet been confirmed.

In a tribute to the late constable, Hampshire Police Federation said that many will have know Russell as a former dog handler and from patrols in Hedge End and Portswood.

They said: "It is with sadness that we can confirm that former Hampshire Constabulary PC Russell White sadly passed away on April 14.

"Russell retired in June 2019 having served for 27 years with Hampshire Constabulary.

"Many will know Russ as a former dog handler and most recently in response at Hedge End and Portswood

"The Constabulary is supporting the family with the funeral arrangements. Further details will be released as soon as they are known.

"The thoughts of Hampshire Police Federation are with Russell's family."
