A MAN has been injured following a machete attack in Southampton City Centre.
Police were called to High Street at around 10.30am on Thursday to reports of an assault after a man had been seen wielding a large knife or machete during the incident.
A man in his 30s suffered a cut to his arm during the attack.
As previously reported, armed police have been seen in the area and High Street was closed off.
A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and possession with intent to supply.
A spokesperson from Hampshire Police said: "We were called just before 10.30am today (April 22) to a report of an assault in High Street, Southampton. It was reported to us that a man had been seen with a large knife or machete during the incident.
"Officers have attended. No weapon has been located at this time, but a man in his 30s has suffered a cut to his arm.
"A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and possession with intent to supply.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
