New principal appointed at Oasis Academy, Lord's Hill

Ben Bond officially took up the post of Principal at Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill this week and is said to to be “eager to continue to build and drive forward the great work already taken place at the academy.”

He will join the school, which teaches pupils aged between 11 and16 after a 20 year career in teaching.

He graduated from the University of Southampton and has since worked as a senior leader, and most recently a headteacher, in several schools including ten years in two Southampton schools.

Mr Bond said that although he is from Somerset originally, “Southampton feels very much like home.”

Believing that “a great education is the key to success in life”, he hopes to continue his success at the academy.

He said: “I am honoured to have been appointed as Principal at Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill. .

“Ensuring students are challenged and supported to learn exceptionally well, displaying responsibility and integrity alongside demonstrating respectful behaviours, will be the standard I expect.”

Since before Easter, Mr Bond was able to speak with students informally as he sought to understand the school.

On his appointment, Phil Humphreys, Regional Director for South West & South Coast Secondaries at Oasis Community Learning said: “Mr Bond is a school leader who has in-depth knowledge of the community.

“His career shows commitment to ensuring every child gets the support they need to make great progress.

“Under Ben’s leadership, Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill will continue to provide an exceptional education at the heart of the community.”
