PLANNING chiefs have rejected a proposal to further extend a house in the New Forest National Park.

The Lymington-based National Park Authority (NPA) has refused an application relating to a semi-detached property at Hillary Close in Lyndhurst.

Lyndhurst Parish Council had urged the authority to reject the application.

A report to NPA member said: "Consent is sought for the demolition of the conservatory and its replacement with a single-storey extension.

"The extension, together with previous extensions, would increase the floorspace to 140 square metres, which exceeds the maximum permissible.

"In order to help safeguard the future of the countryside, it is important to resist the cumulative effect of significant enlargements to rural dwellings."
