A MAN has admitted to a series of shoplifting and business burglary offences.

Stephen Joseph Dempsey from Lower Buckland Road, Lymington appeared before Southampton Magistrates Court yesterday.

He pleaded guilty to seven shoplifting offences and two business burglaries committed between December 2019 and May 2021.

The seven shoplifting incidents were:

• On March 8, 2021, meat products were stolen from a Marks and Spencer store on Thomas Street, Lymington.

• On March 20, 2021, football trading cards and meat items were stolen on two separate occasions on the same day from a Tesco Express on The Square, Lymington.

• On March 21, 2021, alcohol and meat were stolen from a Co-Op petrol station on Wellworthy Road, Lymington.

• On March 25, 2021, meat and cleaning products were stolen from a Tesco Express on Watson Walk, Totton.

• On April 16, 2021, a quantity of energy drinks were stolen from a One Stop convenience store on The Square, Lymington.

• On April 17, 2021, a quantity of washing tablets were stolen from a One Stop convenience store on The Square, Lymington.

• On May 5, 2021, alcohol and washing tablets were stolen from a Co-Op store on Salisbury Road, Totton.

Dempsey also admitted to:

• On December 29, 2019, a hairdressers on Eling Lane, Totton was broken into and approximately £1,000 cash was stolen.

• On October 28, 2020, a shop on Milford Road, Pennington was broken into and approximately £245 in cash was stolen.

He also pleaded guilty to breaching bail conditions in regards to electronic tagging on multiple occasions between March 18 and March 23.

He has been remanded in custody and will now be sentenced at Southampton Magistrates Court on May 17.
