CITY centre shops and pubs were full on Saturday as people headed out to enjoy the first day of their bank holiday weekend.

In Southampton, some shops had queues across the street whilst pub gardens were full once again with restrictions now having been eased.

Thousands took the opportunity to do a spot of shopping in Above Bar Street, whilst in Bedford Place, Town Quay and around West Quay, restaurants and bars were full of people soaking up the sun whilst it lasted.

Elsewhere in the county, shoppers and visitors to a town centre watched as one of the first live music performances of the year took place.

As a teaser for this years Park Proms event at Broadlands Estate and in a bid to bring more people into the town centre, the people of Romsey were treated to a live performance from The Travelling Hands.

The Acoustic Roaming Band from London gave three live performances across the town with the first being at the War Memorial park, followed by two more in the town centre.

The band will be playing on both days at Park Proms this year which is due to take place on August 27 and 28.
